WHAT'S MY STORY?
I'm Kat, and I am a mother and wife first, I am uniquely blessed and there is no place I'd rather be than in their arms. Their unwavering support and belief in my ability utterly defines my drive. I am often asked about my business name, 'aliak' and what exactly it means... the business is actually named after my daughter, who is the absolute center of my being and original inspiration of my photography, as well as starting my own business. It is so important for me to empower her, actually tangibly demonstrate to her that life is about following your dreams, living your passion, truly limitless.
To me, the absolute core of imagery is all about evoking emotion, a divine or poignant memory. Exploring creativity through a beautifully captured image is undeniably my passion, obsession!
Never a fan of stereotypes, I don't want to be bound by labels or rules. But to narrow it down, I suppose my photographic style is best described as a hybrid of Photojournalistic and Fine Art because I love telling a story with my images; I want you to understand the feeling of what transpired, be moved by what you see.
My fundamental goal is to shoot what I love, exquisitely. I do choose only to shoot the genres which resonate with me, what I am most passionate about. I pour my soul into my work, and that being the case, these are the 3 areas in which I have chosen to specialize.
Weddings: I absolutely adore weddings and everything they stand for; nothing more beautiful than the way a bride radiates on her wedding day. The look on her face when her father gives her away to new groom, that kind of moment is sacred, and I love to tell that story!
Boudoir: Boudoir isn't about the risque, it's absolutely about empowerment, about capturing the innate confidence a woman feels about herself and her body. Every boudoir shoot includes traditional portraiture as well, savor the moment, feel Glamorous! It's an honor to be selected for these projects. Boudoir sessions are available as individual sessions or grab your girlfriends and make it a party!
Portraits: Images capture a moment, a sliver of time in one's life. What could be more irresistible!?
